General Inquiries
How long are your courses?
Our courses are designed to be done at your own pace. Each course has a suggested amount of time listed on their landing pages under the “Course Stats” heading. We feel that you should set aside the suggested time in order to complete the course. These hours take into account things like facilitating classroom discussions on videos & media, teaching basic concepts needed to complete each assignment, and making time to continually discuss your work with colleagues and friends.
How do I get the emails for each course?
To start click here to enroll in any/all of the courses you would like to take at this time. Once you’ve completed the sign-up process you will receive the introductory course emails for any/all the courses you opted into. Then, just by opening the first email, you will have triggered the second email within the course. With each email with the series of emails for each course another email will send until you have finished the course.
How long are the courses available? Do I need to sign-up now?
Worry not! These will be free and available indefinitely – so feel free to take any/all at your convenience. We would suggest subscribing to the courses as you can skim the emails without doing the work.
Do I have to complete coursework?
That’s completely up to you! The free versions of the courses are being completed by you through email. Because these versions are setup in this manner we have no way to follow-up to make sure you actually do each assignment.
Do these courses offer CEU and/or college credits?
We are exploring CEUs and college credit options for the online courses we offer. At this time we don’t have anything ready to share. Subscribe to our mailing list as there is more news to come.

How do I feedback on my work?
In the free versions of the courses we are not offering any facilitated feedback for work completed throughout the courses. You can always receive feedback from friends, relatives, or colleagues for work completed within the free courses.
We are planning to offer premium supports for course content so that you can receive feedback from High Tech High personnel. Announcements will be made as soon as these options become available.
Can I hire High Tech High to facilitate a course experience for me and/or a group (students, staff, friends)?
We are launching this service in the near future. If you are interested in receiving news about this option please fill out this form.
Troubleshooting
I didn’t receive an email confirmation for the courses I signed up for and/or the initial course email. What do I do?
If you cannot find those emails please try the following:
-
Look in your spam folder.Because the emails are coming from Mailchimp they can sometimes be flagged as spam. To get around this in the future add the email "pyurick@hightechhigh.org" to your contacts. This should help with accepting emails from MailChimp.
-
Check with your system administrator
We've noticed that, in some instances where schools and organizations that have unique email addresses, that all emails from MailChimp were being inadvertently blocked as a safety measure by the internet administrator. If that is the case you will need to discuss with them whether or not it is possible to take the course through your organization's email account. -
Try a different email account
If the first two interventions listed above do not work, try to use another email account to take the course.
I still can’t get the emails, what do I do?
It is also worth mentioning that there is a way to view the emails if you, or they, ever get lost.
- Go to https://hthunboxed.org (this website)
- Scroll to the list of available courses on the homepage and select the course you are enrolled in (this can also be done from the dropdown navigation menu at the top of the site).
- Once you've arrived at the course landing page scroll down to the course's "Additional Course Resources" section
- Find the email you are looking for from the list of emails within that section.
- Click the button that has the Freddie MailChimp logo that corresponds to the email you are looking to for reference. It will look like the icon to the left.
- Once you've clicked the button it will open a new tab where you can see the email within your browser.
I started doing the coursework and something came up. I want to start the course again, what do I do?
This is a great question! It should be fairly easy to get going again from where you last left off. Follow these steps:
- Open the email inbox that corresponds to the email address you used to sign-up for the course.
- There should be a search function within that email inbox. Within search type either "pyurick@hightechhigh.org" or "Patrick Yurick" (the course emails were sent from this address).
- Within the search results looks for the course emails that are connected to the course. Specifically look for an unopened email from us. Once you've located the unopened email, open it.
- Read through the email. Opening that email should trigger the next email within the course series to send. There you go! Your back "in" the course.
- Can't find the email? For further troubleshooting look through the details under the other questions located in the troubleshooting section on this page.
I took the course a while back but now some of the links within my emails aren’t working. Why?
On 5/13/20 all hthgse.online courses underwent a scheduled maintenance that resulted in some links within course emails sent before 5/13 function improperly. This is due to a patch we applied to the permalink structure on hthgse.online which has resulted in our URLs changing from numbered:
i.e. “https://hthunboxed.org/?page_id=2067”
to a new permalink structure
i.e. “https://hthunboxed.org/newschoolcreation”
This was done in an effort to ensure that current courses, and future, can be more easily remembered and shared.
If you have completed the courses and have emails with links that aren’t functioning properly, we encourage you to bypass those emails and go directly to the corresponding course landing page. Once there, navigate to the resources section of the landing page to find the “Freddie” MailChimp symbol that correlates to the email you are looking for. These links will contain the updated email content.

The animated gif shown demonstrates how to navigate to all active MailChimp emails from with a courses designated landing page.
